On Fridays, we go live! Today, I’m talking about Dale Chihuly’s Fireworks of Glass sculpture in the Indianapolis Children’s Museum.
Here are some photos of how the sculpture was made. These are taken from the displays at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum. As you can see, the large pole in the center has many spikes, or branches, like a tree. Each piece of glass fits on a branch. The artists built the tower from the bottom up and attached four cables at the top to keep the sculpture steady. The chandeliers below are built in a similar way. Each piece of glass hangs on a hook from a structure in the center.
